Expert Video - What are the latest advances in the treatment of opioid-induced constipation?

Expert gastroenterologist Dr. Satish Rao reviews the latest advances in the treatment of opioid-induced constipation (OIC). He also discusses strategies and tips for managing opioid-induced constipation. Dr. Rao urges all patients to be upfront with their providers about any medications they are taking, particularly opioids. He also urges providers to look carefully at the list of medications their patients are taking. Dr. Rao explains that the silver lining on the horizon is the development of peripherally acting μ-opioid receptor antagonists (PAMORAs) which act to neutralize the effect of opioids on gut receptors.
